🔦 About Kingston Spotlight

Hey there, neighbour!

You know that warm-fuzzy feeling when you hear about something wonderful happening right here in our neck of the woods (or the next town or village over)? We’re hunting down those uplifting stories for you.

Welcome to Kingston Spotlight. Consider this your all-access pass to the best bits of the Limestone City and our lovely neighbouring communities—minus the stuffy "official" news that puts you to sleep by the second paragraph.

Why are we doing this?

Because the people of Kingston and the surrounding area are awesome, and keeping up with the interesting stuff shouldn't feel like a part-time job. I'm digging through the noise to find the things that actually matter to people who live here.

What’s in it for you?

  • Local Spotlights: Meet the businesses and community champions that make life better around here.

  • Things to Do: Festivals, events, and family-friendly outings you'll actually want to attend.

  • The Lowdown: From high-speed train updates to "stay off the ice" warnings, we keep you in the loop—without the crime or sensationalism.

  • Local Legends: Celebrating our neighbours who are doing big things, whether it's a Juno nomination or Olympics appearance or a local volunteer milestone.

  • The Fluff: A bit of trivia, weather, and things that just make you smile.

Have a local recommendation, a story we should tell, or just some feedback? Drop us a line at [email protected]—I’d love to hear from you.

I’m so glad you’re here. Stick around—it’s about to get fun.

🧭 About Les C. Cseh

I moved from Toronto to Kingston many years ago because of work. I’ll be honest: I wasn’t thrilled. But it only took a couple of weeks for this area to completely win me over.

Since then, I’ve spent several years in town, two decades south of Westport and the last few years in Bayridge. I’ve hiked the Frontenac Challenge 17 times (my boots have stories to tell), and I’m a huge fan of having almost everything I need within a 30-minute drive, including world-class food, arts, and neighbours who actually care.

I have a huge soft spot for the underdog and the people who step up to help others. That’s why you’ll see plenty of community champions and local organizations in this newsletter. I’m just here to hand them the microphone.

Oh, and you may have heard of my former business ASAP Cheques/Checks, which operated out of Gananoque, ON and Watertown, NY. I sold it to a friendly competitor in Boisbriand, QC, freeing me for projects like this one :-)

When I’m not exploring the trails or cooking up foodie experiments:

  • I’m hunting down local food stories and sharing tasty hidden gems over at Best Eats Ontario East.

  • I’m helping the "little guys"—non-technical, DIY business owners—win at marketing through Results Pathfinder, where I’ve authored two books and created affordable online courses to help them thrive.

Beyond the Inbox: I share a lot more local gold on our social channels than I can stuff into these newsletters! Come say hi:
