👂 Seniors Association gets hearing health funding
Our local seniors' group just got a major boost to help folks with their hearing! The Seniors Association Kingston Region has received new funding to help make hearing health a priority rather than a luxury. This support from Community Foundation for Kingston Area will go a long way in providing resources and education to ensure that our older neighbors stay connected and engaged with the community. We’re making sure everyone’s voice is heard!

🛠️ Kingston students compete in skilled trades and technology at St. Lawrence College
Local students are showing off serious talent in everything from carpentry to high-tech robotics! It was like a talent showcase for the next generation of pros. Nearly 500 students from across the Limestone District School Board gathered at St. Lawrence College for the 26th annual Skills Competition.
They didn't just stick to the basics—the competition covered over two dozen fields including electronics, mechanics, hair design, culinary arts, and even LEGO robotics for the elementary crowd. Whether they were sparking up a welding booth or coding a robot, these students proved that "skilled trades" covers a massive world of technology and creativity!

🎓 Building and defending Black Studies at Queen’s
Queen's University is working hard to grow and protect its Black Studies program. It’s all about making sure diverse voices are part of the conversation! From new courses like BLCK 100 to fighting for the resources the program needs to thrive, the team at Queen’s is committed to creating a space where everyone’s history and future are valued. It’s a big step toward making our local university a place where every student can see themselves in what they learn.

15-year-old Annie Niemann is taking her wrestling moves international! Representing Kingston and Canada at the Pan American Wrestling Championships in Panama is a massive deal, and we are all sitting in her corner. Annie is a member of the Kingston and Area Olympic Wrestling Club. Good luck, Annie—we are definitely rooting for you!

🏥 UHKF Holiday Campaign raises $775K for local hospitals
Our local healthcare foundation absolutely crushed their goal this year! Thanks to nearly 3,300 donors and some incredibly generous "Angel Donors" who matched gifts dollar-for-dollar, the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation raised over $775,000. These funds are staying right here to help Kingston Health Sciences Centre and Providence Care with new equipment and innovative programs. It’s a powerful reminder of what happens when the Limestone City pulls together!

🩸 Period Promise Drive helps women in need
Local folks are stepping up to make sure everyone has access to the menstrual hygiene products they need. Led by United Way KFL&A, the Period Promise campaign (you might remember it as Tampon Tuesday) is back for the month of March. They are collecting pads, tampons, and liners for women and individuals in our community experiencing period poverty. One in five people who menstruate struggle to afford these basics, so every donation makes a huge difference in helping our neighbors stay healthy and confident!

The best part? All the money raised goes directly to support Martha's Table, helping provide nutritious meals and a sense of community for folks right here in Kingston. It’s a powerful example of how creativity can become a force for good in our neighborhood.
