🧂 Salt Shake-Up: Kingston Looks for Eco-Friendly Road Alternatives

Photo from CBC

Kingston is trying to break its salt habit. The city is exploring some new eco-friendly ways to treat our roads in the winter. While we all want the ice to melt, traditional road salt isn't great for our local plants or wildlife. Finding a greener way to stay safe on the roads is a pretty cool move for the environment.

🐕 Puppy Raisers Needed: Help Train the Next Hero with Kingston 4 Paws

Local non-profit Kingston 4 Paws Service Dogs is looking for some special volunteers to help raise their next group of service puppies. These foster families take a puppy into their home for about a year to teach them basic skills and get them used to the world before they start their official training. It is a big commitment, but it is a huge part of how these dogs eventually grow up to help veterans, children with autism, and people with physical disabilities. If you love dogs and want to help change a life, this might be the perfect job for you.

It’s official—the City of Kingston has finalized the purchase of the Lemoine Point Farm for $12.1 million. This is a massive win for everyone who loves our local green spaces. By securing this land, the city is making sure this beautiful "paradise" right next to the conservation area stays protected and won't be turned into a housing development. It is a generational milestone that means we can all keep enjoying this unique piece of Kingston’s waterfront for a long, long time.
